Laura was super nice & friendly she gave a lot of useful information & not in an over-whelming way. I would recommend her to others with question about breastfeeding.
Thank you Laura for making me feel more confident in my nursing capabilities and reassuring me of what's normal and what to expect.

What is the ACA? Does this apply to me?
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law in 2010. There are many parts of the ACA, but one of the most valuable is that ACA requires health plans to cover breastfeeding support and supplies. Many health plans began implementing this coverage on or after August 1, 2012. Click Here for more information.
If you have a private insurance carrier or commercial insurer, this law applies to you. The breastfeeding provisions of the ACA do not apply to Medicaid or WIC. However, breastpumps are available through WIC and many state Medicaid programs. For information on how to obtain a breastpump through WIC or Medicaid, contact your state WIC agency.
Insurers Are No Longer Allowed to Deny Coverage for Breastfeeding Mothers!

When to Call a Lactation Consultant
Having a baby is such an amazing experience that fills your life full of joy and happiness. Are you prepared for your big arrival? One of the best things you can do before the due date is talk to a Certified Lactation Consultant to schedule a Breastfeeding Class. Choosing to breastfeed is such a natural and rewarding experience. Breast milk is one of the greatest gifts you can give your baby. A mother's milk is filled with ideal nutrients, enzymes and antibodies that boost your newborn's immunity, and promotes lifelong health benefits. Breastfeeding also creates a special bonding relationship that can be enjoyable for both of you. There is no other moment that can bring you and your little one closer. The first few weeks are crucial to successful breastfeeding. In the beginning, some new nursing moms may face breastfeeding challenges such as sore nipples, engorged breasts, marathon breastfeeding sessions (cluster feedings), or trying to establish a good milk supply. Fortunately, the majority of breastfeeding problems can be overcome with the help of an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My name is Laura Kinder RN, IBCLC and I have over 26 years of experience in working with moms and babies in L&D, level ll Nursery, Postpartum, and as a Lactation Consultant. I am very passionate about my professional career as a WIS (Women's and Infant Services) RN, but found one of the greatest perks has been working as a Lactation Consultant . I know how to get you off to the right start from the early beginning to avoid unfortunate pitfalls. Breastfeeding may take a little practice initially, but there are so many reasons to give breastfeeding your best effort!

A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three. ~Grantly Dick-Read
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh
